Eddie Fischer

Founder / Chief Executive Officer

Biography

Eddie Fischer is the Chief Executive Officer of the How U Doin Foundation, a non-profit organization, and Uncle Eddie Eats, a for-profit venture. Both entities are dedicated to helping teenagers and their families overcome addiction, mental health issues, lack of connection, and find hope and healing. With over 17 years of recovery from alcohol and drug addiction, Eddie is a living testament to the power of resilience and transformation.

Born and raised in Sayreville, New Jersey, Eddie’s journey with addiction began at a young age. By the time he was 14 years old, he had already developed a love affair with alcohol and spent much of his time in bars. In 2000, Eddie moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, where he built a successful $50 million mortgage business. However, alongside his professional success, Eddie also battled a cocaine addiction.

In 2005, Eddie made the courageous decision to seek treatment at The Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, California. On April 13, 2006, he found freedom from addiction and embarked on a journey of recovery that has spanned over 18 years. During this time, Eddie has faced significant challenges, including losing everything in the economic downturn of 2008. However, it was during these difficult periods that Eddie discovered his true calling – to serve others during their most critical times.

In 2018, Eddie and his wife Michelle relocated to Texas, where they dedicated three years to serving at Clearfork Academy, an Adolescent Boys Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center in Fort Worth. Following this, Eddie served as the Chief Marketing Officer for Casa Colina Treatment Center in Waxahachie for two years. Eddie’s passion for helping others extends beyond his professional endeavors. He has served as a Neighborhood Group Leader for his church and a Regional Alumni Volunteer for The Betty Ford Center. He is also a Level Three Master Graduate of Rapport Leadership and has supported The Courageous Healers Foundation’s epic bicycle adventure called Ride Across America.

Eddie’s purpose in life is to share his resources, experience, strength, and hope with others. He finds joy in making great pizza, having meaningful conversations, and bringing enthusiasm to every aspect of life. In his free time, Eddie enjoys hiking trips and even has experience taming buffalo on Catalina Island. Eddie’s unwavering commitment to helping others, his over 18 years of recovery from addiction, and his genuine enthusiasm for life make him an invaluable asset to the How U Doin Foundation.
