Biography

April Scales graduated from Tarleton University with a Master’s of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She specializes in incorporating a combination of Trauma-Focused CBT and art/play-based techniques with children and teens who have experienced various forms of trauma, struggles with foster care experiences, or adjustments and challenges with adoption. Individual sessions are provided at her private practice, Resilient Hearts Therapy, in Farmer’s Branch, TX. In addition to offering individual therapy, April works with various nonprofits in the DFW area to provide group therapy to children, teens, and adoptive parents using art-based interventions.

Outside of the mental health field, April enjoys spending time in nature, teaching Zumba, playing board games, creating art, and planning community activities that bring people together in positive ways.
